Keep Dungy Away From Chip!

tonydungyReports hit the news yesterday that the Eagles or Chip had been in touch with Tony Dungy regarding the search for the GM position. If Dungy was contacted, it’s not clear whether or not the Eagles were interested in Dungy as a GM or asking for his opinion on candidates for the position.

The reason for the contact doesn’t matter.

This is infuriating.

Be afraid. Be Very Afraid!

Tony Dungy simply needs to be ignored in all matters regarding Scouting/Player Personnel.  Don’t believe me? Look at these Dungy quotes:

February 2014 via KTCK AM regarding Johnny Manziel:
“He is productive, he’s a winner…He’s a guy that excites his teammates. He gets the most out of everybody around him. That’s what you’re looking for in a quarterback. But is he talented enough? Can you win with him? Is he going to make plays in the NFL? Absolutely. Should he be a top-five pick? We’ll see how that goes. If I’m committed to winning, I’d take him.”

October, 2009 via The Dan Patrick Show on Tim Tebow:
“As a coach, I always like winners…Tim Tebow doesn’t have the classic throwing motion, he doesn’t have the accuracy, maybe, right now that some people are looking for, but I think when he gets into a pro system that really stresses throwing the ball accurately, the big thing is he makes the people around him better. And he’s won. … I think he’s going to be a great player in the NFL.”

March 17, 2014 via Twitter on Aaron Murray:
Yes I am a big Aaron Murray fan. I think he’s going to be like Russell Wilson.

January 2012 Football Night in America regarding RG3:

(Question) Dan Patrick: “Would you take him over Andrew Luck?”

(Answer) Dungy: “The way the game is going now, I love the athleticism; I would lean towards Robert Griffin.”

‘Nuff said.  Back off Dungy!
