2015 Phillies Season Tickets Have Arrived Faceless

I received my 17 game plan Phillies ticket package in the mail yesterday and opened them during our podcast recording last night. While I do like the new checkbook like format of the tickets, there is one glaring ommission. THERE ARE NO PLAYERS ON THE TICKETS!

I’ve had season tickets for more than a decade. Each year the tickets usually have one of like four or five players on them and then those images are repeated throughout the pack of tickets. In years past, there may have been pictures of Cole, Doc, Howard, Thome, Rollins, Cliff Lee, Brad Lidge, etc.

This year, statutes! Freking statues of Schmidt and Ashburn. Tickets also display numerous shots of the ballpark, fireworks, and the Phanatic with a hot dog gun.

The cover of the package is what looks to be the torso of Ben Revere. They didn’t even want to put his face on it.

What’s this tell us? They are hoping, trying, expecting that any or all of Papelbon, Howard, Utley, Hamels, and Ruiz may not be here during the year and didn’t want fans holding tickets containing the images of former Phillies. Why no Diekman? No Giles?

They use a picture of a baseball.  A baseball…just a baseball!

It also tells Phillies fans that the only reasons to go to games this year, according the Phillies themselves, are ballpark and the Phanatic.

Geesh!
