Halloween Weekend Picks–Do Something!

FRIDAY (Mischief Night)

If you don’t have plans to go soaping or egging we’ve got a couple of things that might be interesting and fun.

Laurel Hill Cemetery, one of the cooler spots in the area, has TRUE TALES FROM THE TOMBS: MISCHIEF NIGHT by FIRELIGHT happening Friday night. Performers will regale you with true tales from the Cemetery’s historic tombs. They promise to feature stories of the Cemetery’s most provocative and memorable permanent residents. They’ll have hot cider and cookies for post performances. The tours leave every half hour beginning at 7:00 p.m. and going until 9:30 p.m. It’s $20/person.

THE DEAD MILKMEN are playing the Trocadero Friday night. Not much to say about these Philly legends. This show should be a great night out of live music. Tickets are like $25.

Like Metal and/or Disco music? If so, you gotta get your ass to Kung Fu Necktie Friday night for TRAGEDY: ALL METAL TRIBUTE TO THE BEE GEES AND BEYOND. Metal dudes in leather, spandex, and sequins crank out your favorite Bee Gees, disco, and soft rock hits in their flamboyant metal style. Doors are at 10:00 p.m. Admission is $12-$15.

SATURDAY (HALLOWEEN)

The show is in town to hype the Temple/Notre Dame game. The Mall should be filled with thousands of Temple fans with funny and clever signs, hoping to get a moment on national TV. I hear that Independence Beer Garden, across the street, will be open for one last day.

The festival is one of the last of the season in the city and will feature live music, shopping straw bale maze, circus performers, horse and wagon hayrides, face painting, and more. Free admission.
