CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK

CarsonCity

Carson Wentz is going to suck. Say it with me. CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK.

He’s a rookie. Rookie quarterbacks tend to struggle. He’s a rookie quarterback from an FCS school. He’s going to underestimate the closing speed of NFL corners and linebackers. NFL Defensive Coordinators are slightly better than those at Missouri State and Western Illinois, both regular North Dakota State opponents.

Say it again, CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK.

This is for you own good and the good of Carson Wentz. The Eagles season is going to be much more enjoyable if you accept the belief that Carson Wentz is going to suck. Earlier this summer we wrote about the correlation of low expectations and happiness.

Scientists at the University of London have concluded that the key to happiness is having low expectations. They mined this conclusion from an experiment in which people gambled with small sums of money. The subjects were happiest when they won, not having expected to win.

If you accept that Carson Wentz is going to suck, there’s less chance you’ll BOO when he does actually stink. The kid could use the fans support. He’s making a massive adjustment going from North Dakota State to the NFL. While Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson continue to remind us how tough Wentz is, we must remember he’s North Dakota tough. That’s not East Coast city tough. This isn’t about physical toughness. I’m talking mental toughness.

He’s most likely going to lose more games than he wins. I don’t know if he’s ever done that before. He’s going to struggle, repeatedly. I don’t know if he’s endured that at any level of competition. He’s gonna have East Coast media grilling him every week and talk radio to deal with. Who knows if he’s tough enough to handle all of that.

That last he’ll need is fans BOOing. That’s why it’s important to accept that Carson Wentz is going to suck. Say it again, CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK.

Think about the last three Sixers seasons as training camp for this Eagles season. We were patient as Sixers fans, rarely BOOing even as they had single digit wins. We need to show that patience with Wentz.

CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK.

Still don’t believe it? Five FCS quarterbacks have been taken in the first round: Phil Simms, Doug Williams, Dan Pastorini, Steve McNair, Joe Flacco. All of them sucked their first year as a starter.

Flacco: 14 TDs 12 INTs, 80.3 Rating

Steve McNair: 14 TDS, 13 INTs, 81.7 Rating

Dan Pastorini: 7 TDs, 12 INTs, 57.1 Rating

Doug Williams: 18 TDs, 24 INTs, 52.5 Rating

Phil Simms: 15 TDs, 19 INTs, 58.9 Rating

Believe me now? Say it once more: CARSON WENTZ IS GOING TO SUCK.

Remember that throughout the season. Whenever you get the urge to BOO or call into talk-radio, remember that mantra.

He’s not gonna suck forever, just this year and maybe next. It’s important to show him support and understanding so that he can focus entirely on football. We don’t need him distracted by disgruntled fans, etc. Remember the patience and understanding we’ve shown the Sixers for 3 years. We only need to do that for 16 games with the Eagles and Carson Wentz. If Wentz’s transition to the NFL isn’t successful the franchise and us fans are screwed for the foreseeable future. Let’s help anyway we fans can.

Don’t believe me Carson Wentz isn’t going to suck forever? Remember those five FCS quarterbacks who sucked their first year as a starter? All five of them went to Super Bowls. Granted, Pastorini went riding the bench in 1980 as Jim Plunkett replaced him and led the Raiders to that painful 1980 Super Bowl against the Eagles.

The other 4 all got to the Super Bowl on their own merit so the odds and history are in Wentz’s favor. He’s not gonna suck forever, just this year and maybe next. Remember that. History tells us that odds are in our favor that he’ll lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl, just not this year.

As always thanks for reading and sharing.
