Deerest Carson Trolls Philly

For some unknown reason, over a holiday weekend, Carson Wentz decided to troll Philly fans.

In case you were busy drinking, grilling, vaping, or at the beach and missed the tweet, here it is:

Philly has been doing cheesesteaks for about 80 years. It’s our signature sandwich that’s known throughout the country, maybe the world. When Monday Night Football or any national sports broadcast visits Philadelphia, they always do the obligatory shot of a cheesesteak grill.

Many of us suffer from cheesesteak saturation, but that doesn’t give a dude from North Dakota the right to stroll into town after a 7-9 season and take shots at our sandwich. Yeah, we know there are better sandwiches in town (roast pork, Italian hoagies), but an out-of-towner taking shots at our cheesesteak is unacceptable.

Carson Wentz is still an outsider. He makes his ND pride evident on your social media accounts. There’s no need to troll Philly fans by spending a year or so here and then telling us we’ve been doing cheesesteaks all wrong for the past 80 or so years by using beef and not venison.

We get it. Carson hunts. Carson hunts deer with his brother. You can’t help but know that. To be honest, the constant promotion of his brother’s mediocre Youtube channel documenting the “Wentz Bros Outdoor Life’ is annoying. It’s tacky. It makes it look like the brother is trying to glom onto Carson’s success to secure a Cabela’s endorsement. Maybe this was his way of reminding us, again, that he hunts and eats game meat.

Venison on a roll with cheese is just that. It’s not a cheesesteak.

Why troll Philadelphian’s and attack a Philly institution? Philadelphia has shown Wentz nothing but love. His jersey is everywhere.  I doubt anyone here is poking fun at North Dakota, in fact I’ve seen more than a handful of Wentz ND State jerseys in town. Hopefully, this was a just a poor attempt at being funny.

Here’s to hoping that Carson is a better quarterback than he is comedian.
