NEW MUSIC ALERT: Angus & Julia Stone

I wasn’t too excited about a brother and sister Australian duo after listening to Big Jet Plane from their earlier release.

Then they broke up…weren’t talking to each other.

Then producer Rick Rubin (Slayer, Weezer, Metallica, Johnny Cash, Jay-Z) starting sending them emails asking to work with them.  He sent more emails.  They decided they should work with him.

They just released a self-titled record and it’s my favorite record of the summer, maybe the year so far.  Their contrasting voices over top of trippy pop melodies have found a permanent place in my head.  They are playing Union Transfer in October.  Check out a video for A Heartbreak from the new album.
