Phillies Fans are Lazy Nerds

Last night was the third annual Star Wars Night at Citizens Bank Park. This was my first time attending the Jedi inspired night at the ballpark. For the record, this was part of my partial season plan. I didn’t seek this game out.

I’ve learned two things. The first, people will flock to anything Star Wars related. This was the most crowded that I’ve seen the Park this, aside from Opening Day and the Mets series.

Second, sports fans aren’t die-hard sci-fi fans or Phillies fans are the laziest Star Wars fans. They’re like Sci-fi fans light.

I was looking forward to this event thinking that I’d see sites like a Comic-con with people dressed as their favorite characters. I mean, that’s what the television ads that the Phillies ran said to do. Nope. Nothing like that. The only people dressed in character were employees/interns of the Phillies. Instead, it was predominately a t-shirt crowd.

Seriously, this was Star Wars night at the ballpark. This is the night to get your geek on and the best that you could do was pull out a Star Wars theme t-shirt. Why bother??

Total VIOLATION on all local Phillies/Star Wars fans. You gotta bring it harder than a novelty t-shirt.

Anyway, here’s a look at the sites of the game.
