A Day in Jawnville: 2017 Auto Show

Who doesn’t like the Philly Auto Show? You get to sit in cars all kinds of vehicles and the people watching it usually spot on. Going in, twitter said the over/under on how many pairs of jorts I’d see at 6.5. It was a high number due to the balmy winter we’ve had in Philly. I’m proud to say the number came in way under. We saw zero jorts. It was a Wednesday and the crowd was thinner than past years so maybe that had something to do with, but we’d still expect to see a couple. Don’t go getting all fashion forward on us now, Philly!

I had requested a press pass to do our yearly coverage this year, but was flat-out denied. I guess our 8,000 readers/month isn’t impressive enough for the Auto Show’s PR company.

A simple rejection email like that doesn’t stop us. Free passes were scored without the help of the Brownstein Group.

Overall, the Auto Show was solid, but not one of my favorites of the past few years. One of the bigger disappointments was the Grand Hall being exclusively Lexus and Mercedes-Benz vehicles. We did get asked to not bring our beers into one of the Mercedes. That’s a Violation!

There was a ton of RAV4’s, too. Felt like dozens.

Favorite car of the night may have been this customized El Camino for Arizona State’s Mark Cosgrove.

If you were looking for a Nerf colored truck, they have one for you.

3 Eagles had their pimped out rides on display at the Car Effex area. Fletcher Cox, Vinny Curry, and Jason Peters.

Vinny Curry’s Jeep Wranger:

Fletcher Cox’s Ford F150.

Jason Peter’s Chevy 3500.

Vinny Curry’s the winner in our view. Cue the “maybe he should’ve spent less time worrying about his truck and more about his play” jabs.

This was cool.

Just in case you’re in the market for some funky license plates, they have them.

Just a heads up. The “I Love Vag” plate is NEVER a good idea. “Pepe” is the clear winner here.

In the market for some out of date NFL jerseys? Don’t fret, they Auto Show has them. Need a “DOPE” or “CASH ONLY” hat? The Auto Show has them!

All in all, it was a good time. We may or may not have vaped a bit in a Nissan Juke. It’s a Nissan Juke, so why not.

Need something to do this weekend on Saturday or before the Super Bowl? The Philly Auto Show is worth checking it out. It runs through Sunday.

And hey…the Batmobile is there.
